OUTLINE OF SCHOOL AWARENESS PROGRAM ON WASTE SEGREGATION CALLED, “MY CITY – MY DUTY”

Making One Child Aware Is Equal To Making One Family Aware, More effectively.

So we decided to reach out to children from classes VI to XII.

Realising the potential in involving the children into this program,

Trichy City Corporation (represented by Commissioner, Respective Assistant Commissioners and Sanitary Inspectors)

Along with

Mission Green Trichy (Represented by, Dr.K.Narasimha Rao, Mr.Mahesh Khanna, Mr.Arun Cheriyan, Mr.Bhasker, Mrs.Arulmozhi Thirupathy, Dr.SivaSubramanian), a Voluntary Organisation

Have initiated “My City – My Duty”, a program (lasting about 90min) in schools.

We approach the School Principal and fix up time/date/arrange for PPT presentation and finalise a mutually convenient date for the TCC-staff and MGT-member.

As a part of this, we:

1)      Make an INTERACTIVE Powerpoint Presentation to school children (Std. VI to XII) about Waste Management – What / Why / How – with pictures. Also a few words on Road Safety and Dengue prevention are mentioned.

2)      Donate a Pair (Blue & Green) of Bins and the Charts (Blue for Non Biodegradeable –   “Makkatha Kuppai” and Green for Biodegradeable – “Makkum Kuppai”) to be followed for each colour Bin.  And encourage the principal / teachers to implement the same in the entire school.

3)      The Commissioner / Asst. Commissioner who accompany will gift a CD (we have made with the relevant soft copies for further benefit of the school and also for the students’ families) to the school principal.

4)    The Students and Staff then take a “Swatch Bharat Pledge” following the Assistant Commissioner / Sanitary Inspector line by line.

5)      Award for the best school in the Given Zone and also in the City – is also initiated.

Further Presentations were deferred due to School exams / Festivals / Holidays / School Functions / Dengue prevention activity.

We also put up charts on the Public Bins to improve Public awareness on Waste Segregation.
